Confirmation

Begins Wednesday, October 2nd at 6 p.m. in the ECC

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6)

What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the follow-up to parents’ baptismal promise to raise a child in the church. Confirmation is a chance for teens to explore their own faith and navigate their God story. It’s a chance to ask tough God questions and seek out answers. Ultimately, confirmands will be able to define their identity in Christ, what they believe about God and their place within the community.

Expectations:

  • Prayerfully speak with families, coaches, extra-curricular leaders and teachers about this commitment.

  • Be on time each Wednesday

  • Participate in every class. (Life happens, of course, but confirmation should move to a high slot on your priority list)

  • Church attendance at least 3X/month.

  • Sermon notes are required 3X/ month. If you miss one Sunday, never fear! Our services are streamed online every Sunday.

  • Attend the confirmation retreat February 6-7 at Lake Koronis Assembly Ground

  • Participation in at least one “challenge” opportunity per semester such as Boundary Waters, ASP, Fall Service Days, The Event, or greeting, ushering or volunteering for Vacation Bible School

  • Family participation: A parent, guardian or mentor is expected to be at confirmation each week.

  • Attendance for confirmation banquet (May 23rd)

  • Participation in confirmation Sunday (May 24th)
