A Biblical Understanding of Poverty and Our Responses

“A Biblical Understanding of Poverty and Our Responses”

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights

of all who are destitute. Speak out and judge fairly; defend the rights

of the poor and needy. — Proverbs 31:8-9

Sundays following 9:00 AM service, May 14, May 21, and May 28th.

How does the Bible view the rich and the poor?  Who are the rich?  Who are the poor?

Two authors will be referenced:  Dr. Anne Bradley (co-editor of For the Least of These: A Biblical Response to Poverty).  This book  offers some practical responses.

Timothy Johnson, Sharing Possessions, What does Faith Demand?  Why should we give to the poor?
