United Methodist WomenLocal Mission Projects Saturday Noon Meals - A meal is served family style at noon each Saturday to the first 100 people who show up at Christ United Methodist Church, serving homeless needy individuals and families from 11:00am-1:00pm. Meals on Wheels - The goal of Meals on Wheels is to provide balanced, nutritious meals to individuals unable to prepare or access adequate meals for themselves due to chronic or acute illness, physical limitations, or convalescence. Each meal meets 1/3 of the daily nutritional standards and can accommodate special diets. Delivery of meals is by volunteers. Maximum cost of the service is $6.00 per meal. A sliding fee scale is available. Clients must receive meals 3 days per week and must be home at the time of delivery. Delivery is between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm, M-F. Dorothy Day Hospitality House - Homeless shelter located at 730 1st Street SW in Rochester. Provides housing & meals for the poor and homeless. Needs volunteers to cook, work front desk, clean, visit with guests. Channel One Food Shelf - This program provides a five-day supply of food each month to people who live in Olmsted County and are income-eligible. Household shoppers choose what they most want from non-perishable items in a store-like setting. Fresh produce, dairy and bakery items are also available, as are personal care items. Arrangements for home delivery to disabled or homebound people are possible. Local senior housing complexes have scheduled delivery days for their convenience. A satellite food shelf serves people in Byron, MN. Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity - The Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHH) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build simple, decent, affordable housing for people in our community who are economically challenged. Funding for the agency comes primarily from local, individual, church, and business contributions, and from the United Way. InterFaith Hospitality Program - Volunteers in the IHN program provide homeless families with basic human needs: shelter, safety, and sustenance with a spirit of warmth and hospitality. Congregations become temporary homes in which families are treated as guests and individuals are accepted as they are. In this environment, guests are able to maintain their dignity. The kindness of hosts helps to diminish the hurt of homelessness, and both volunteers and guests grow and learn from each other. Missions Supported By United Methodists Women Pledge To Missions - Women’s Division: Each UMW unit makes a Pledge to Mission to the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, for National and Global mission work benefiting women, children and youth. Emma Norton Services - One of the National mission project sites of the United Methodist church, Emma Norton Services is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, providing affordable transitional and permanent housing with support services to homeless women and their children in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis and St. Paul) of Minnesota. It enjoys a rich history of growth and currently operate several programs in multiple facilities through the commitment of dedicated paid and volunteer staff and generous contributions. Church Women United - As United Methodist Women of Christ UMC, participation in the ecumenical movement Church Women United (CWU) is done through three celebrations, World Day of Prayer, May Friendship Day, and World Community Day. These specific annual celebrations reflect the movement in its ecumenical spirit as a racially, culturally and theological inclusive Christian women’s movement, celebrating unity in diversity and working for a world of peace and justice. Joint Religious
Legislative Coalition - JRLC is the largest, most inclusive
interfaith public policy body in Minnesota--people of diverse faiths
