Music

You will feel welcome in the music groups at Christ Church!  We delight in your interest.  If you like to sing or play an instrument, we have a place for you.  Atmosphere is warm and nurturing, encouraging and challenging, in a Christ-Centered environment.

Adult Vocal Ensembles

Christ Church Choir

Meets Wednesday at 6:15 pm in the Choir Room.  High school through adult.  Sing a blended mix of Church Choir repertoire.  Singers should be able to hold their vocal part, desire to grow in their ability to sing in a choral setting, and perform worship music to the best of their ability.  Directed by Kent Jurgenson.

Senior Choir

Meets Tuesday, 3:00 - 4:00 pm in the Choir Room.  A choir of Senior Citizens who are not able to attend and evening rehearsal.  Directed by Kent Jurgenson.

Small Group Vocals

Solo through chamber singers.  Music selections will fit your taste in worship music, classical to contemporary.

Children and Youth Vocal Ensembles

Little Angels (3 years through Kindergarten)

The Little Angels choir seeks to develop the young child's participation in a singing group within a community of their peers.  Children from age 3 through Kindergarten meet weekly to pray, sing, move, listen to Bible stories, play instruments and participate in other activities designed to celebrate their enthusiastic acclamatons and nurture their development in faith.  Little Angels Choir will share their praises with the congregation of Christ United Methodist Church during four services in the sanctuary throughout the year and also during the Family Christmas Eve Service.  While participation during these times is encouraged, it is important to realize that this is secondary to the goals of the group.  Family participation in the Little Angels Choir not only reaffirms the commitment that has been made to support these children in their faith development, but also logistically allow the program to exist.  Families are scheduled to assist during rehearsals throughout the year.

Brenda (director of Little Angels) has been an active member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1994.  She has a Bachelor of Music Degree with a major in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  Since 1994, Brenda has worked as an independent contractor for Growing With Music, Incorporated, and has provided Early Childhood Music Therapy in a variety of settings for children in the Rochester area.  Brenda and her husbnd Tony have two children of their own, Bethany and Weston, who also enjoy singing and participating in church activities.

Pathway Singers

Meets Wednesday, 5:15 - 5:45 pm in Room 34. 

About Rehearsals

A Parent "Proctor" is assigned to attend each rehearsal and performance.  The duty of the proctor is to be present in rehearsal and to assist the children with their tasks and needs.

Youth Choir

Meets Wednesday, 6:00 - 6:30 pm.  Directed by Tina Wong

Instrumental Ensembles

The Band

The Band offers Gathering Music, three selections for the congregation to sing along, and a "Special" at The Current", the 11:00 Sunday Service.  The Band offers a polished Christian rock sound, reflective of the rehearsal and thought they put into their music.  Led by Rick Van Ert.

Christ Church Orchestra

Strings, percussion, brass and windchimes perform at Easter, Christmas Eve, and other celbratory services.

Jubilee Bells (3rd through 5th Graders)

Meets Wednesday at 6.00pm in the Handbell Room.

Jubilee Bells learn to play chimes and bells, read notes and rhythms. Jubilee Bells play for the Sunday morning services about every six weeks. Directed by Kent Jurgenson

Carillon Ringers (6th graders through 8th graders)

Meets Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Handbell Room.

Carillon Ringers continue to develop the handbell artistry begun in Jubilee Bells.  They provide service to God through their playing in church services and also sharing their music at other churches and attending area ringing events.  They play in church once a month.  Directed by Kent Jurgenson.

Christ Chimers (Senior High and Adults)

Meets Wednesday from 8:00 to 9:00 pm in the Handbell Room.  This group of high school and adult ringers plays more difficult music.  They play in church once a month and special Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter Services. Directed by Kent Jurgenson.

Celebration Bells (Adults)

Meets Tuesday, 6:30 pm in the Handbell Room.  This adult handbell group plays in church once a month and special Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter Services.  Directed by Kent Jurgenson
