The United Methodist Women are sponsoring a children’s Easter egg hunt inside the church on Easter Sunday after the 9AM worship service. The chocolate treats in the eggs are fair trade chocolate! Fair trade chocolate ensures the cocoa farmers are paid a fair price for their cocoa beans. It promotes responsible stewardship of the environment through the production process, and it ensures the farms growing the beans do not use child slave labor. Child slave labor is a huge problem in the cocoa industry. The company that produced this chocolate candy is co-owned by the 85,000 farmer members of the cooperative in Ghana that grows the cocoa. As owners, they get a share of the profits, a say in the company, and a voice in the global market. Come and have some fun with your kiddos, while supporting fair trade!
