TAIZÉ SERVICE AT CUMC:
Thursday, November 12th in the Sanctuary at 6pm
Join us in the calm and beauty of a candlelit sanctuary. Receive the sounds of music and Word and silence. Be fed by the Spirit and by the presence of community.
The Taizé community in Taizé, France, is the home of an ecumenical monastic order of over 100 brothers who serve and welcome into their life every year thousands of young pilgrims from around the world. Their worship has drawn the hearts and spirits of millions of others over more than 5 decades. It is so intriguing that churches everywhere have adapted Taizé worship style into their own spaces.
Candlelight, the reading of Scripture, the music of simple phrases repeated over and over and the prolonged sounds of silence all create a spiritual place in which the soul can know mystery, beauty, the depth and breadth of the love of God. It invites contemplation for the individual, and it also knits each together to discover the power of community.
“The quiet, the beauty of the Taizé service, surrounds you and helps to bring you into the space where you are alone with God.”–Ken Bauman
